Set Yourself Apart:
Get Your Residential Project Green Certified
to the National Green Building Standard
Presented by
Michelle Desiderio, Director, Green Building Programs, NAHB Research Center
Until recently, single-family and multifamily residential buildings have lagged the green certification market. The National Green Building Standard is the first green building standard approved by ANSI and offers a flexible, credible, and affordable rating system for single-family and multifamily residential developers. The Standard establishes practices for the design and construction of green residential buildings, renovations, and land developments. Come learn about the Standard's requirements, understand how the certification process works, review successful green certified projects, and find out how to market green features. Get all the information you need to get your next project Green Certified to the Standard and set your project apart from the competition.
Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the development of the National Green Building Standard, its scope, and the opportunities for residential project certification.
2. Identify program eligibility requirements for certification under the National Green Building Standard and how it compares to other green rating systems.
3. Learn what land development and building projects are eligible for certification and how to determine eligibility.
4. Understand the process, roles, and responsibilities of the participants.
5. Discuss the revision process for the Standard and what changes are expected for the 2012 version.
This program is eligible for NAHB CGP continuing education credits and 1 AIA Learning Unit Sustainable Design credit.
